If you have a question or comment, I can read it out for you. Please make your questions as clear as possible. I will read out any questions when the speaker asks for questions at the end of his/her presentation. Please note that all chat transcripts will be archived and made available to th

09:28 < lochii> I'm fine with wildcards
09:28 < Susannah_NCC> :)
09:29 < pkern> lochii: Wildcards don't help you if somebody checks forward and reverse (strict checking, default e.g. in Apache).
09:29 < lochii> of course, but then you have a use-case for an actual PTR record
09:29 < lochii> for cusotmers, I give them a wildcard /64
09:30 < lochii> then if they want actual host entries, they need to configure fixed addresses
09:30 < lochii> we don't do ddns SLAAC PTR
09:30 < lochii> no point
09:30 < pkern> IRC does that too. So I don't know if there's anything that relies on unverified reverse.
09:30 < pkern> Because everybody can fake it.
09:30 < pkern> Then you can just get rid of it, too.

09:48 < tore> Question for speaker (Tore Anderson, Redpill Linpro): Did you consider using the IPv4 link-local range 169.254.0.0/16 instead of RFC 1918 private address space?
09:48 < Susannah_NCC> ok Tore I'll read it out
09:50 < lochii> what is the icmp behaviour on forwarding over this s-wire method?
09:50 < lochii> does the receiver need to send ttl-exceed from an ipv4 addr? how do they do address selection for this if so?

09:57 < Alan_Steel> The problem seems to be that some day AMS-IX won't have any continous ipv4 route between v4 peers. So there's a v6-only link between them. Some clever hack avoids 40B per packet overhead and allows to send v4 packet over that link, okay. But as the network grow won't there one day be a v6 only hop, which turns this strategy from solution to a time-extender only. Could someone maybe explain this bit to me?
