09:37 < pkern> Vendor support for IPv6 uRPF is not that great.
09:38 < MarcoH> pkem need to relay that?
09:40 < pkern> Guess not. But that seems like the general problem here. It takes ages until the edge technologies reach the edge. And even stuff for the core like uRPF is done in software on slightly older hardware, so needs to be emulated using ACLs.
09:40 < pkern> It's not an IETF problem what vendors do, I guess.

10:13 < ripe382> Please relay to the microphone:
10:13 < ripe382> Hi Andy, this is Mark Townsley from Cisco. The Stateless Technologies like 6rd and MAP are designed such that they can be run inline within the edge routers that are handling ingress and egress traffic for the site anyway. So, unlike stateful technology like DS-Lite and NAT444 or even NAT64, you don't need to add a bunch of special purpose boxes.

10:21 < ripe382> MAP has native IPv6.
10:22 < zajdee> We need to get rid of IPv4 traffic. With the randomness in browsers, IPv6 is not always preferred. MAP cannot help with that, unfortunately.
10:22 < ripe382> Yes, IPv6 only with NAT64 if/when deployable will be great.
10:23 < zajdee> Right
10:23 < ripe382> But, while Erik would buy it, I don't think many others would.
10:23 < shane> Yeah, stupid browsers trying to give user the best experience possible, instead of preferring a specific protocol!

10:24 < zajdee> As long as there's the literals and applications like Skype, which could benefit from v6 by the way, but it's not using it, we're stuck with v4 and dual-stack and all the transitional technologies
